Teaching Philosophy

The best way to become a design Engineer is to design one...!!

The learning in the field of Technology and Engineering is never complete unless you experience and assimilate the concepts by doing it yourself.

Moreover it has to be fun, objective and result oriented. To really teach technology in the way it is practiced in the Industry today, our teachers along with their degree and teaching skills must have valuable Industry Exposure & Experience. In the US, they realized it long ago; the top Universities made it mandatory for the Faculty Members to have Industry Exposure.

Always ask why?

In most Engineering colleges in India we learn the subject as it is dictated by the syllabus without asking a question why we should learn the topics we are being taught in the first place; what is the ultimate objective; how do all the topics connect together to achieve the course objective.

Before we learn something we must ask and must know the objective and how it's going to be useful in the larger scheme of things. Unless I know why I am studying something it takes away the interest, the fun part of the course work and it mostly becomes rote learning and dispassionate note taking to pass exams.

Eventually when it comes to job search for the graduating Engineers it ends up with disappointments. The employers are not interested in a mere degree; they are more interested in how much you have absorbed and assimilated the technical concepts and ideas to make contribution in their high tech projects.

There is a lot to improve in our academic system than just passing the blame to the students that they are not sincere enough.

i-cee is different

We in i-cee want to change the way we do Technology education and address the concerns we have in the traditional teaching methods adopted in our Engineering colleges. We first define the course objective and design a carefully crafted project which will exercise the concepts we want our students to learn to build confidence in Technology. And then we work back to see what are the modules we need to teach to achieve our course objective. Needless to say we also carefully define the course prerequisite upon which we can build the concepts.

Moreover to teach Technology we may not need a lot of teachers. Rather what we need is a few really qualified and passionate teachers with teaching skills and hands-on experience in the Industry , who can make a new technology more interesting and alive, with their own experience and make it fun to exercise.
